Reading, Pa (Apr. 23, 2016) - Hood College (5-9, 1-6) scored five goals in the fourth quarter and the game winning goal with one minute remaining in overtime to capture an 11-10 victory over Alvernia University (3-12, 0-6) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.
After a five goal third quarter for Alvernia, the Crusaders held a 10-5 advantage over Hood entering the final 15 mintues. The Blazers tallied five goals to force an overtime against the Crusaders. The Blazers' Patrick O'Brien scored six goals on the day, with his most important goal coming in overtime to capture the win over the Crusaders.
Alvernia took an early lead in the contest, scoring three goals in the first quarter to have a 3-1 lead over the Blazers. Hood scored three goals in the second quarter, while Alvernia posted a pair to raise the score to 5-4 at the half.
Benjamin Manning led the Crusaders in scoring, notching four goals and an assist on the day.
Jarret Abernethy tacked on two goals of his own.
