BOX SCORE Reading, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2016) – Malorie McCoy notched her second goal of the season five minutes into overtime to lift #20 Alvernia University (5-0) to a 1-0 victory over Eastern University (1-4) Tuesday evening in non-conference field hockey action on Alvernia's Turf Field.

Receiving a quick pass from Margaret Wentzel, McCoy swept a backhand shot from close center past Eagles goalie Nicole Berger for the game winner.

McCoy's goal marked Alvernia's fifth shot attempt in overtime.

The Crusaders dominated the game offensively through regulation, outshooting the Eagles 26-3 with 18 shots on goal. Alvernia also posted 15 corner opportunities, but the Eagles defense put together a solid performance that kept the Crusaders at bay.

Wentzel ripped seven shots on goal on the night, while McCoy and Alexis Krall each had five.

With the victory, Alvernia extends its win streak to five.

The Crusaders look to match the best start in program history on Saturday, hosting Wilkes University at 11:00 a.m.
