Reading, Pa. (Jan. 6, 2017) - Franklin & Marshall College (5-6) used a 24-point second quarter to pull ahead in a 63-47 win over Alvernia University (0-14) Friday evening in non-conference women's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.
The Crusaders had a 7-5 lead after a low-scoring first quarter then the Diplomats surged ahead with a 24-8 advantage in the second quarter to take a 29-15 lead at the break.
The Diplomats held the lead over 15 the rest of the way.
Alvernia was led by Maya Cooper who scored 16 points on 6-of-17 shooting and had four assists. Kiersten Ingram and Megan Bruno had a team-high six rebounds each.
F&M got a team-high 13 points from Haley Pilone and a game-high 10 rebounds from Erica Brown.
Alvernia has the league bye this weekend and will return to action at Widener on Wednesday.
