Reading, Pa. (Oct. 24, 2017) - Freshman
Eden Jahn scored the only goal of the game in the 25th minute and senior Jess Plunkett made a pair of saves in net as Alvernia University (6-10-1, 3-5) earned an impressive, 1-0 home win over Stevenson University (11-6, 4-3) Tuesday evening in MAC Commonwealth women's soccer action.
Jahn entered the game as a substitute in the 19th minute and six minutes later found herself moving down the left wing with the ball. Â She beat the defense toward the middle of the field and hit a curling shot with her right foot over the Stevenson keeper into the back netting.
Stevenson's best chance for the equalizer came in the 61st minute when Hannah Klevins pinged a shot from the top of the box that Plunkett knocked down. Â The Mustangs generated pressure in the final 10 minutes and had a cross bounce off the crossbar.
Plunkett finishes her career in a tie with Kirsten Kelley (2007-10) for second place in career shutouts with her 13th.
Alvernia finishes the season seventh in the MAC Commonwealth.
