Reading, Pa. (Oct.26, 2017) - Senior Kristen Sipling became the career record holder in kills at Alvernia University and the Golden Wolves (15-11, 4-4) made the postseason for the first time in 10 years with a 3-0 win over Albright College (3-20, 0-8) Thursday evening in MAC Commonwealth women's volleyball action at the Physical Education Center.

Sipling finished the night with a team-high 19 kills and needed just four to pass Alvernia Hall of Famer Kindra Lewis with her 1,273rd career kill.

Alvernia had little trouble handling its crosstown rival with a 25-12 win in the first set, a 25-15 win in the second, and another 25-12 win in the third.

Sipling and classmates Aubrey Gruwell-Keating and McKenna Achenbach were honored in a pregame ceremony for senior night as were three Albright seniors, Claudia Guise, Naliah Beckford, and Kellie Hill.

Gruwell-Keating finished the night with a team high three aces and added eight digs. Â Achenbach had two kills, a dig, and a block.

Alvernia's win gave it the #5 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Championships. Â It's the first time Alvernia has made the MAC Commonwealth postseason since joining the league in 2009, and the first appearance since it advanced to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference semifinal in 2007.

Alvernia will travel to #4 seed Messiah College on Monday for the play-in game. Â The winner will travel to top-seeded Stevenson University for a semifinal on Wednesday. Â The other semifinal will feature #3 Lebanon Valley at #2 Arcadia.
