Chambersburg, Pa. (Feb. 7, 2017) - Alvernia University (3-1) earned its third straight win in its inaugural season with a 3-2 win over Wilson College (1-8) Tuesday evening in non-conference men's volleyball action.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-22 win in set one and a 25-16 win in set two. The Phoenix were able to win the third and fourth sets to level the match, and Alvernia won the deciding fifth set 15-13.
Collin Welteroth led the Crusaders with 11 kills and
Ralph Lunati also reached double figures with 10 kills. Lunati also recorded a team-best 11 digs and
Justin Gibbs had 27 assists.
Alvernia opens the Continental Volleyball Conference schedule on Friday hosting Eastern Mennonite University--the 10th ranked team in the nation.
