Newark, N.J. (Mar. 25, 2017) - Alvernia University (10-12, 1-8) dropped a 3-0 decision to Rutgers-Newark and a 3-1 match to Stevenson University Saturday afternoon in a Continental Volleyball Conference Tri-Match at Newark.
Freshman
Ralph Lunati was one of four Crusaders with double-digit kills on the day registering a team-high 16 kills over two matches.
Dalton Hartman had 48 assists and
Austin Rush had 16 digs.
Rutgers-Newark opened the first set of the day with eight straight points on its way to a 25-18 win. It put together a run of five straight points late in the second set on its way to 25-21 win, and closed the match with a 25-18 win in the third set.
Spencer Matthews had 10 kills and five digs for the Crusaders in the opening match.
Stevenson opened the second match of the day with a 25-11 win in opening set, then took a 2-0 lead with a 25-21 win in the second set. Alvernia got on the board with a 25-18 win in the third set, but Stevenson closed the match with a 25-11 win in the fourth.
Lunati had 10 kills for Alvernia. Hartman finished with 19 assists and 10 digs.
Alvernia returns home to host Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday.
