Ft. Myers, Fla. (Mar. 7, 2017) - Junior Dillon Dunne allowed one hit over seven innings with eight strikeouts and Alvernia University (4-0) picked up a 10-1 win over Swarthmore College (2-7) Tuesday evening in non-conference baseball action at the Lee County Player Development Complex.

Dunne allowed his only base hit on a single up the middle in the sixth inning.  Alvernia scored five runs in the fifth inning and four in the sixth.

John Catchmark led the Alvernia offense going 2-for-2 with a run scored and four RBIs as the designated hitter.  He singled home a run in the fifth and had a bases-clearing triple in the sixth.

Dunne faced a little heat in the second inning when the Swarthmore leadoff batter reached on an error and stole second, but Dunne stranded the runner striking out the side on 10 pitches.

Alvernia scored an unearned run in the fourth inning on an infield single off the bat of Alex Salesky.

Cameron Coons hit a 2-run triple to start the scoring in the fifth.

Swarthmore scored an unearned run in the ninth off Alvernia reliever Evan Young who finished off the last two innings.

Alvernia continues the spring break schedule Wednesday playing Rivier College.
