Wayne, N.J. (Apr. 5, 2017) - #11/12 Alvernia University (18-2-1) scored three runs in the fifth and senior
Ryan Sheekey went five innings in a 5-2 win over William Paterson Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at Paterson.
The Crusaders tied the game at 1-1 on a sacrifice fly in the top of the second then took a 4-1 lead with three runs in the fifth scoring three times aided by a pair of Paterson errors.
Sheekey allowed two earned runs on six hits and finished with six strikeouts.  He turned the ball to
Nicholas Marotta who allowed just two hits and a walk over three innings--also with six strikeouts. Â
Zack Landy handled the ninth for his third save of the season.
Cameron Coons finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate. Â Ben Dubs had a pair of runs scored.
Alvernia returns home to start a big conference series with Widener on Friday.
