Claire Brier and senior
Maria Petrongolo each scored on a header to lead the Golden Wolves to a win over Lancaster Bible College in non-conference women's soccer action on a rainy night at Alvernia.
Alvernia struck first when
Taylor Gough sent in a corner kick to
Claire Brier. Brier redirected the kick with a header, putting the Golden Wolves up 1-0 18 minutes into the game.
Six minutes later,
Taylor Gough sent a free kick into
Maria Petrongolo. Like Brier, Petrongolo headed the ball into the upper right corner of the goal.
With nine minutes remaining in the game, the Chargers were able to close the gap on the Golden Wolves. Raegan Horst crossed in a corner kick to Kiersten Hatch who sent the ball past Alvernia keeper,
Jessica Plunkett.
The Chargers got one more shot off with four minutes remaining, but Plunkett was able to notch her third save and final save on the night.
The win this evening was the Golden Wolves first on the season. They look to pick up their second win on Saturday at 3:30 PM when they host Moravian College.
