Reading, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2018) - Goucher College (10-13) won the last three sets of the match for a 3-2 win over Alvernia University (4-13) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's volleyball match at the Physical Education Center.

Alvernia scored four straight points to close out a 25-23 win in the opening set.  Paige Stern served out the final three points with the Gophers committing two attack errors and Jill Baker picking up the kill on set point.

Goucher opened up a 9-3 lead in the second set, but Alvernia stormed back to take a 13-12 lead before winning 25-18.  The Gophers took a 6-3 lead in the third and stayed in front taking a 25-23 win.

They tied the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set and won the match 15-9 in the fifth.

Stern led the Golden Wolves with 16 kills and Olvia Frutiger had a team-high 18 digs.

Alvernia continues the season Wednesday at Arcadia.
