Reading, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2018) - Goucher College (10-13) won the last three sets of the match for a 3-2 win over Alvernia University (4-13) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's volleyball match at the Physical Education Center.
Alvernia scored four straight points to close out a 25-23 win in the opening set. Â
Paige Stern served out the final three points with the Gophers committing two attack errors and Jill Baker picking up the kill on set point.
Goucher opened up a 9-3 lead in the second set, but Alvernia stormed back to take a 13-12 lead before winning 25-18. Â The Gophers took a 6-3 lead in the third and stayed in front taking a 25-23 win.
They tied the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set and won the match 15-9 in the fifth.
Stern led the Golden Wolves with 16 kills and Olvia Frutiger had a team-high 18 digs.
Alvernia continues the season Wednesday at Arcadia.
