Reading, Pa. (Oct. 24, 2018) - Hood College (4-11, 1-6) scored a goal in the 88th minute to break a 1-1 tie and take a 2-1 win over Alvernia University (3-12-2, 1-6) in MAC Commonwealth Women's Soccer action on Wednesday night at Alvernia.

Alvernia got on the board in the 20th minute when a cross from the Golden Wolves deflected off a Blazer defender and into goal.

The Blazers tied it up at 1-1 late in the 26th minute with a goal from Grace Weaver. Weaver took a corner for the Blazer and the ball curved perfectly into net and over the head of Alvernia's keeper and an Alvernia defender.

Hood broke the tie in early in the 88th minute with a goal from Elisa Botten. Colby Painter took a shot, which deflected off the foot of Alvernia keeper Lily Sankey. Botten quickly gathered the ball and fired on goal to break the tie and give the Blazers the 2-1 advantage with just over two minutes to play.

The Golden Wolves had a header opportunity with just over a minute remaining, but the ball was off the mark and Hood held on for the win.

Alvernia closes out its 2018 season on Saturday against crosstown rival Albright College.
