Reading, Pa. (Nov. 17, 2018) - Alvernia University (2-1) ran out to a 24-2 lead after the first quarter on its way to a 74-26 win over Penn State-Schuylkill (0-3) Saturday afternoon in game two of the Nonno Alby's Tip-Off Tournament at Jack McCloskey Court.
Alvernia opened with the first six points of the game on 3s from
Gabriella DeVito and
Kiersten Ingram before a pair of free throws for Schuylkill. Â Alvernia held Schuylkill off the board for the last 8-plus minutes of the first half and tallied 24 points in the quarter for a 24-2 lead.
DeVito and Ingram led the way for the Golden Wolves in the first quarter scoring six points apiece. Â Alvernia sent 8-for-17 from the floor including a 4-for-9 effort from the 3-point line.
The lead was 39-11 at the half and 55-18 after three.
Fourteen players saw time for the Golden Wolves with 12 of them logging double-digit minutes.
DeVito led the way with 13 points. Â
Kaylie Walker finished with 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Alvernia will face Ohio Wesleyan in the Championship game of the Nonno Alby's Tip-Off on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Â Penn State-Schuylkill will face Washington College in the consolation game at 1:00 p.m.
