Glenside, Pa. (Dec. 5, 2018) - Arcadia University (4-4, 2-0) led wire-to-wire in a 49-28 win over Alvernia University (3-5, 0-3) in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action on Wednesday night at Arcadia.

Alvernia struggled to get anything started, as the Knights went on a 13-0 run over opening 15 minutes.

After Abbie Zerbe got the Golden Wolves on the board with a three pointer, Alvernia went on a 7-0 run of its own to get within six with 1:48 remaining in the first half. The Knights made a layup with 24 seconds left to take the 17-9 lead into the break.

The Knights opened the second half with a layup, but Alvernia matched it with a layup from Jannelle Robinson to stay within single digits with 8:37 remaining in the third quarter.

Alvernia and Arcadia then traded points again, with the Knights converting two free throws and Alvernia dropping a layup from Amber Orban, but Arcadia then began to pull away following a three pointer with five minutes to go in the third. The Knights went on a 13-3 run to finish out the third quarter with a 34-16 advantage.

The Golden Wolves posted 12 points in the final 10 minutes, but the deficit was too much to overcome as Alvernia fell 49-28.

Kiersten Ingram led Alvernia with eight points, four steals, and four rebounds. Robinson had six rebounds and five points for the Golden Wolves.

Taylor Dunn led the Knights with 15 points and six boards.

Alvernia returns to action on Saturday at Jack McCloskey Court when the Golden Wolves host Messiah College at 3:00 PM.
