Grantham, Pa. (Mar. 24, 2018) - Messiah College (12-7, 7-2) earned a close fought 3-0 win over Alvernia University (11-12, 5-4) Saturday afternoon in MAC men's volleyball action at Messiah.
The Falcons took a 25-19 win in the opening set then pulled out a 25-22 win in the second.
Alvernia trailed 19-14 in the second set, but came back to tie the set at 20-all and again at 22-22, but couldn't pull ahead. Â Messiah took three straight points to pull ahead 2-0.
In the third set Messiah put together a late run to turn a slim 19-18 lead into a 24-18 lead before closing out the 25-19 win.
Ralph Lunati III had a match-high 12 kills and Jon Demeter had a team-best seven digs.
Alvernia continues the season Tuesday hosting Fontebonne University then closes out the regular season with three straight MAC matches.
