Reading, Pa. (April 27, 2018) - Alvernia University (27-10, 15-4) freshman
Sean Esch allowed just two hits over a complete game shutout in a 4-0 Golden Wolves win over Lebanon Valley College (10-21, 6-13) on Friday afternoon at Alvernia.
Esch had a no hitter bid going through five and a third innings before a Dutchmen single to left field broke it up. Esch allowed just two hits the rest of the game in his first career shutout.
Alvernia's offense was solid behind Esch, putting up three runs in the bottom of the first to give the Golden Wolves a 3-0 lead.
Nathan Sides put Alvernia on the board with a single up the middle to score

Franco Esposito added the final two runs of the first inning with a single to left center to bring in Sides and
Matt Briner. Â
The Golden Wolves plated one more in the bottom of the sixth with a double down the left field line to score
Alex Salesky.
Esch finished the game with three strikeouts and faced only 31 batters on the day.
The Golden Wolves head to Lebanon Valley on Saturday to complete the three game MAC Commonwealth series and close out their regular season.
