Reading, Pa. (Apr. 4, 2018) - Stevenson University (6-4, 1-0) swept all three doubles flights on the way to an 8-1 win over Alvernia University (1-5, 0-1) Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's tennis action at Angelica Park.
Under brutally windy conditions the Mustangs jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Â The guests earned 8-3 and 8-2 wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles respectively and needed a tiebreaker to earn an 8-7 (8-6) win at the No. 1 flight.
Alvernia's Todd Weiner was able to emerge with a win at No. 1 singles in comeback fashion. Â After falling 6-2 in the opening set he recovered for a 6-3 win in the second set then took the match with a 10-8 in a pro set.
Stevenson was able to claim the remaining five singles flights in straight sets.
Alvernia continues the spring schedule at Hood College on Saturday.
