Rosemont, Pa. (July 6, 2018) - Twenty-eight former Alvernia student-athletes were named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC)--formerly known as the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC)--25th All-Anniversary Team for their respective sports.
The PAC was founded in 1992-93, with Alvernia College joining nine other institutions as charter members. Following 23 team and 12 individual PAC titles, Alvernia left the conference at the end of 2008 to join the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), and the PAC officially changed its name to the CSAC later that year.
All student-athletes who competed in conference-sponsored sports in the original PAC (1992-2008) and the current CSAC (2008-2017) were considered for the All-Anniversary Team of their respective sports. The top 25 student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport were identified using a point system based on recognition from all-conference awards in addition to major end of season awards - such as Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year.
Alvernia posted members to the All-Anniversary Team in eight sports, with baseball leading the way with 12 honorees.
"We are proud of the history and accomplishments of Alvernia's student-athletes during our 16 years with the PAC," said Director of Athletics,
Bill Stiles. "We are thrilled to have 28 student-athletes earn this prestigious honor, and we are grateful to the CSAC for taking the time to recognize the accomplishments of PAC and CSAC schools and student-athletes past and present."
A total of 458 PAC/CSAC student-athletes were recognized on the All-Anniversary Teams. All former and current core member institutions had at least one representative on the All-Anniversary Teams, led by 93 student-athletes from Cabrini University.
All-Anniversary Team recipients will be awarded commemorative coins depicting the special 25th Anniversary logo.
