Reading, Pa. (Sept. 11, 2018) - Lebanon Valley College (4-5, 1-1) defeated Alvernia University (1-5, 0-2) by a 3-0 final Tuesday evening in MAC Commonwealth women's volleyball action Tuesday evening at the Physical Education Center.
The Dutchmen opened the match with six straight points on their way to 25-16 win in the opener. Â The Wolves opened the second set well opening up a 7-4 lead, but LVC stormed back with five straight points to take a 9-7 lead then pushed ahead 20-11 before closing out a 25-14 win in the second.
The third set was a little more back and forth early with Alvernia putting together a run of three straight points for a 10-6 lead. Â The Wolves led 13-10 before four straight points for the Dutchmen gave them a 14-13 lead. LVC pulled ahead 19-14 and took the third set by a 25-19 final.
Olivia Frutiger led the Wolves with seven kills, nine digs, and three aces. Â
Molly Gaffney had 19 assists for the hosts.
Alvernia continues the season this Friday and Saturday at the St. Mary's Tournament.
