Doylestown, Pa. (Sept. 22, 3018) - National #20 Delaware Valley (3-1, 2-0) ran up 218 yards on the ground in a 41-10 win over Alvernia University (1-2, 0-2) Saturday afternoon in MAC football action at Delaware Valley.
The Aggies capped off a seven minute, 69-yard drive with a 4-yard run from Donte Simmons late in the first quarter, and scored on a 37-yard heave on the last play of the first half for a 27-10 lead at the break.
Alvernia used two big plays to score. Â
Daniel Scott ripped off a 66-yard kickoff return after the Simmons touchdown that led to a
Ben Strausser 24-yard field goal, and
Moses Ulysse returned an interception 90 yards for a score later in the second quarter.
Both scoring plays were firsts in the history of Alvernia football which kicked off for the first time on September 1st of this year.
Jake Dilcher was 6-for-14 for 84 yards with one interception for Alvernia. Â
Malcolm Carey ran 12 times for 17 yards against a stoudt Aggies' defense. Dashawn Darden was 14-of-19 for 146 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers.
Del Val scored two touchdowns in the third quarter. Â The Alvernia defense forced a pair of turnovers in the fourth quarter.
Alvernia hosts Wilkes University next Saturday at FirstEnergy Stadium--home of the Reading Fightin Phils--in the anchor game of the Gridiron Classic.
