Justin Thomas had a game-high 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to lead Alvernia University (8-9) to a 71-54 win over University of Valley Forge (1-12) Friday evening in non-conference men's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.
Thomas subbed in just over two minutes into the game with an uninspired starting five training 5-0. Â He immediately knocked down a corner 3 no his first shot then a second 3 gave the home team a lead they didn't relinquish.
The Golden Wolves put together a 22-8 run late in the first half and held a 37-22 lead at the half. Â The second half lead grew to as many as 30 points, 64-34, with over eight minutes to go.
Malik Green scored 15 points and
Nick Youngkin added 13. Â Valley Forge had a pair of players reach double figures led by Aaron Hill who totalled 14.
Alvernia is off for the weekend with Saturday's home game versus Hood College moved to Monday ahead of forecasted storms.
