Reading, Pa. (Jan. 30, 2019) - Lycoming College (15-6, 9-3) won three of four quarters in a 58-32 win over Alvernia University (3-18, 0-12) Wednesday evening in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.

The Warriors jumped out to a 23-8 lead after the first quarter and scored just one point in the second quarter, but Alvernia couldn't take advantage only scoring four points to close to 24-12 at the halftime break.

The Lycoming lead hit 19 points on a few occasions in the third quarter and the Warriors settled for a 40-23 lead after three.  The lead was as high as 28 points, 55-27, late in the game.

Jannelle Robinson led Alvernia with seven points.  Lycoming had a pair of players reach double figures led by Akjlah McFadden who totaled 12.

Lycoming had a 10-3 lead four minutes into the game, but Alvernia battled back to cut the deficit to two points, 10-8 with just under four minutes left in the first quarter.  The Wolves missed three shots and committed four turnovers the rest of the quarter as Lycoming scored 13 straight to pull ahead 23-8.

As hot as the were to close the first quarter, the Warriors were just as cold in the second going 0-11 from the floor including 0-for-4 from the 3-point line.  Their only point came on a free throw when Ryanna Lamoreaux hit 1-for-2 from the stripe with 4:48 left on the clock.

Lycoming shot 43 percent from the floor in the third and held Alvernia to 20 percent to put the game out of reach.

Alvernia continues the conference schedule Saturday at Widener.
