Frederick, Md. (Oct. 9, 2019) - Hood College (9-3-1, 1-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead en route to a 3-1 win over Alvernia University (3-9, 0-2) on Wednesday evening in MAC Commonwealth women's soccer action at Hood.
The Blazers opened the scoring with a goal from Erin Scarborough in the tenth minute, but both teams went scoreless over the next 50 minutes.
Hood broke the scoring drought in the 61st minute with another goal from Scarborough.
Just over a minute later, Alvernia cut its deficit to one when
Breanna Dukehart found
Alison Hyde for a goal in the 62nd minute.
The Golden Wolves would not get off another shot on goal, while the Blazers would add to their lead with a goal in the 87th minute.
The Golden Wolves were outshot 23-11, and the Blazers held the advantage in shots on goal, 11-3.
Lily Sankey played all 90 minutes in net for Alvernia, making eight saves.
The Golden Wolves continue their MAC Commonwealth schedule on Saturday with a 4:00 PM game against Stevenson in the second game of a homecoming weekend triple header.
