Annville, Pa. (Feb. 16, 2019) - Alvernia University (3-22, 0-16) fell to Lebanon Valley College (13-12, 9-7), 58-44, in the 2018-19 season-finale on Saturday afternoon at Lebanon Valley.
Alvernia scored the opening basket of the game and held a 4-3 lead after four minutes of action, but the Dutchmen went on 11-0 run over the next two minutes to take a 14-4 lead.
Gabriella DeVito knocked down a three to end Alvernia's scoring drought and
Torie Zerbe hit a layup with 26 seconds left in the first quarter to make it 18-9 heading into the second quarter.
The Golden Wolves scoring struggles continued into the second quarter, scoring just three points in the first six minutes of the second quarter as the Dutchmen went up 33-12.
Alvernia went on a 6-1 run to close out the half as the Dutchmen took a 34-18 advantage into the break.
Alvernia cut its deficit to single digits, 46-37, with a layup by
Torie Zerbe with 7:38 left in the fourth quarter, but Alvernia's shooting again went cold over the next three minutes as the Dutchmen built their lead back up to 17, 54-37, with 4:21 left in the game.
Alvernia finished the game on a 7-4 run, but the Dutchmen took the 58-44 lead.
Alvernia's offense was led by
Torie Zerbe, who finished with 11 points, three steals, and seven rebounds.
Jannelle Robinson also hit double-digits with ten points.
Today's contest marks the conclusion of Alvernia's 2018-19 season. The Dutchmen advance to the MAC Commonwealth Championship as the fifth-seed. They will face #4 Arcadia on Monday.
