Reading, Pa. (Mar. 16, 2019) - Alvernia University (7-14) split a home tri-match Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to Baruch College and a 3-0 win over Mt. Union.

Josh Stewart had 17 kills in the first match of the day. Alvernia jumped out to a 1-0 win with a 25-23 win in the opening set. The Wolves trailed 21-17 and scored seven straight to surge ahead.

Baruch won the second set, 25-20, to level the match at 1-1 then won 25-15 in the third set, and closed the match with a 25-23 win in the final set.

Baruch won the middle match, 3-0, over Mt. Union, and Alvernia matched that score to finish the day.

Spencer Matthews had 11 kills in the win over Mt. Union, and Mike Monczewski had 30 assists and 10 digs.

Alvernia returns to the conference schedule on Wednesday at Arcadia.
