Aston, Pa. (May 9, 2019) - Second-seeded Neumann University (30-12) bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to advance to the ECAC Softball Final Four with a 3-2 win over #7 Alvernia University (24-18-1) Thursday afternoon at the MapleZone Sports Complex.

Alvernia scored a run in the first when Sarah Reinert doubled to lead off the game, moved up on a fly ball to right, and came in on a Sarah Bystrycki sacrifice fly.

The Golden Wolves increased the lead to 2-0 when starting pitcher Riley Shields drove in Bystrycki in the top of the third.

Neumann pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the third and tied the game with a manufactured run in the fourth.

The Knights took the lead with a two-out RBI in the bottom of the sixth and Alvernia went in order in the seventh.

Bystrycki and Shields were both 3-for-4 at the plate for the Wolves. Shields went the distance in the circle and allowed three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.

Alvernia's season comes to a close with its third straight ECAC appearance. Neumann advances to face #3 Pfeiffer on Saturday at Penn State-Behrend.
