Reading, Pa ( Sep. 3, 2019) - Alvernia University (1-1) went up 1-0 in the first five minutes and never looked back as on its way to a 4-0 win over Lancaster Bible College (0-2) in non-conference women's soccer action Tuesday at Alvernia.
Senior
Alison Hyde tied the single game goals record with three, and senior
Taylor Gough became the career assist leader at Alvernia on Hyde's first of the day.
Gough sent a ball into the box from near the right sideline and Hyde was able to collect the ball with a single touch past the goalie and score the game's first goal in the sixth minute. Lancaster Bible went on a late push before the end of the half but Alvernia goalie
Lily Sankey came up with a big sliding save to keep the score at 1-0.
Just 10 minutes into the second half Hyde netted her second of the evening coming off the assist from
Breanna Dukehart.
Soon after that Hyde became the fourth player in Alvernia women's soccer history to score three goals in the same game. She netted her third goal of the evening with 28:10 left in the game on the second assist from Gough.
Alvernia kept the pressure on all game and with 10 minutes remaining
Lauren Gough scored the final goal of the game and her first of the season coming from
Lilah Shade assist.
Alvernia will continue action on the road next Monday September 9th when they face Gwynedd Mercy University.
