Chatham Jumps Out Early In 6-3 Win Over Alvernia

Gilida Scores A Pair For Golden Wolves

New Kensington, Pa. (Feb. 15, 2020) - Chatham College (8-11-2, 4-7-2) scored four goals in the first period en route to a 6-3 win over Alvernia University (4-19-0, 0-15-0) Saturday afternoon in UCHC Women's Ice Hockey action at Chatham.

Chatham opened the scoring in the second minute of play on an even strength goal from Madison Black, but Alvernia quickly answered when Olivia Gilida flipped a wrister through a screen on the power play to knot the score at 1-1.

Chatham scored a short handed goal later in the first and scored twice in the final four minutes of the first period to take a 4-1 lead at the first intermission.

The Cougars continued the scoring with a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the second period for a 6-1 lead, and Gilida netter her second of the game with 20 seconds left in the second.  The third period was scoreless until the final 90 seconds when Alvernia freshman Abby Resinger scored unassisted for the 6-3 final.

Isabelle Hovel made 13 saves in the first period for Alvernia.  Julia Beaven played the final 40 minutes and made 31 saves.

Alvernia wraps up the regular season in its first season of competition next weekend hosting Stevenson and King's.
