Lycoming Blanks Alvernia On Senior Day, 48-0

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 13, 2021) - Lycoming College (7-3, 6-2) scored five first half touchdowns on its way to a 48-0 win over Alvernia University (0-10, 0-8) to close out the 2021 season in a MAC Football matchup on a rainy and cold afternoon at Alvernia.

The Warriors put up 358 yards of total offense, including 242 yards on the ground, and held Alvernia to under 100 yards of total offense.

Prior to the game, Alvernia recognized its 17 senior student-athletes who are graduating this year. Lucas Boyle, Antwann Cade, Malcolm Carey, Jack Cerminaro, Jordan Green, Ryan Long, Ja'quces Mathis, Jared Montalto, Tyzhir Morris, Owen Morton, Scott O'Hara, Nick Rosahac, Jack Russell, Jeromy Sayles, Neeko Scurlock, Dion Thorpe, and Teyon Thorpe.·

This senior class is Alvernia's largest graduating class, and the first class with members to attend Alvernia for four years, and who would have played together for four seasons had the 2020 season not been cancelled.

The Golden Wolves won the coin toss and elected to receive, but the Warriors forced a 3-and-out on Alvernia's first drive to force an early punt. Poor weather conditions caused the punt to travel just 19 yards, giving Lycoming excellent field position. The Warriors were unable to take advantage as Alvernia forced a field goal attempt that sailed wide.

Lycoming's next possession proved to be successful as the Warriors went 36 yards to get on the board with 8:29 left in the first. The Warriors went on to score four more touchdowns in the first half, including two in the final two minutes of the half.

Alvernia and Lycoming traded possessions to open the second half. But, after Alvernia fumbled on the first play of its second drive of the half, Lycoming added to its lead with a touchdown on the ensuing drive to go up 41-0.

The Warriors would score once more to seal the 48-0 win.
