Chester, Pa. (March 13, 2021) - Widener University (2-0, 1-0) held Alvernia University (0-1, 0-1) scoreless in the first and fourth quarters en route to a 26-5 win over the Golden Wolves in MAC Commonwealth Men's Lacrosse action Saturday night at Widener.

The Pride jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter, and extended their lead to 11-0 before Alvernia's Sean Goldsmith put the Golden Wolves on the board with a man-up goal just under five minutes into the second quarter.

With the Pride leading 14-1, Alvernia's Louis Ferrara scored a goal and then had the assist on a goal by Michael Ferrara two minutes later with 3:08 left in the half. Widener would enter halftime with a 14-3 lead.

Widener extended its lead to 18-3 with eight minutes left in the third quarter before Alvernia scored on back-to-back goals from Cory Butcher and Keith Lake to make it 18-5 with 3:31 left in the third quarter.

Alvernia would be held scoreless the remainder of the game as the Pride added eight more for the 26-5 win.

Alvernia's Haydon Lyon finished with 23 saves in net in the loss.
