Reading, Pa. (March 20, 2021) - Alvernia University Women's Tennis (0-1) fell to Lebanon Valley College (1-0) 7-2 in its 2021 season opener on Saturday in non-conference women's tennis action at Alvernia.
To start the afternoon, Alvernia picked up a point at #3 doubles with Alvernia's
Rachel Rineer and
Maria Figurelli taking an 8-6 win over the Dutchmen. Alvernia would fall to Lebanon Valley in #1 and #2 doubles with 4-8 and 5-8 losses, respectively. The Golden Wolves would go into singles competition trailing 2-1.
The Golden Wolves would only pick up one win in singles competition to Lebanon Valley's five. Rineer picked up her second win of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Lebanon Valley at #4 singles. Alvernia's
Leah Bouchard and
Elizabeth Danovich would force decisive third sets in their matches at #1 and #5 singles, respectively, but the Dutchmen would go on to take the decisive third sets. Â
The Dutchmen would go on to take the 7-2 match win.
Alvernia returns to action on Saturday, hosting Stevens in a non-conference match.Â
