Reading, Pa. (March 27, 2021) - Alvernia Men's Volleyball (6-7, 6-7) was swept by Stevens Institute of Technology (8-3, 8-3) in two closely contested MAC men's volleyball matches at Alvernia. 

The Ducks took match one 29-27, 31-29, and 25-21. The Ducks then took match two 20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.

In the first match of the day, the Ducks and Golden Wolves played the first set within three points of each other the entire way. The Ducks were able to finish off the set with back-to-back kills for the 29-27 set win.

Set two was another close one, as the two teams again played within three points of each other the entire set. The Ducks again finished off the set with back-to-back kills for the extended 31-29 set win.

In set three of the match, Alvernia held a lead for over half of the match before the Ducks scored five straight to take an 18-16 lead. Alvernia prevented match point twice with kills by Tyler Anderson and Josh Stewart, but the Ducks were able to close out the set with a kill for the 25-21 win and 3-0 match win.

Alvernia's Tyler Anderson led Alvernia with 18 kills and 48 attacks.

In match two of the afternoon, Alvernia took a 1-0 match lead after defeating the Ducks 25-20 in the opening set. Alvernia closed out the 25-20 set win with a kill by Josh Stewart. 

Set two followed suit of the first match of the day and was played close, with the Ducks prevailing in a 25-22 set win.

In set three of the match, Alvernia got it within two late, 24-22, but the Ducks were able to finish off the set with a kil for the 25-22 set win.

In what would be the decisive fourth set, Alvernia again came within two late, 21-19, on a kill from Josh Stewart. Alvernia would then fend off one match point on a kill by Josh Stewart. But, the Ducks once again closed out the set with a kill to take the 25-21 set win and 3-1 match one.

Anderson once again led Alvernia with 22 kills.

The Golden Wolves return to action on Wednesday, hosting Messiah University.
