Reading, Pa. (September 8, 2021)- Alvernia University (1-3) fell to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in MAC Commonwealth play after falling to 3-0 to Eastern University (5-0) in the MAC Commonwealth opener on Wednesday night at Alvernia's Jack McCloskey Court.

Alvernia and Eastern would fight a back-and-forth battle in the first set. After going down 22-17, the Golden Wolves would cut the deficit to one, with a service ace by
Alexis Schwenk to cap off the run. Eastern would stop Alvernia's surge to win the set, 25-22.

The Golden Wolves would drop the next two sets as the Eagles would remain in control the rest of the contest.

Eastern University won the match 25-22, 25-17, 25-13.

Alvernia was led by
Taylor Suto who tallied nine kills and five digs.
Rachel Sipling followed with eight kills and two block assists.
