Reading, Pa. (Nov. 19, 2022) - Penn State Behrend (15-2-5) used a fourth minute goal to secure a spot in the ECAC Championship game, defeating Alvernia University (11-5-6) 1-0 in the ECAC semifinal on Saturday at Alvernia.

Behrend scored following a turnover in Alvernia's defensive zone. Behrend's Blake Cooper then fired a shot past the reach of Evan Solley to put Behrend on the board early.

The Lions then rode that one goal lead for the next 86 minutes, allowing just four shots on net for the Golden Wolves.

Alvernia's Nick Willson had an opportunity to even things up as time was expiring, but the Lions made the late save to secure their spot in tomorrow's ECAC Championship. 

Solly finished with six saves in goal, and Willson led Alvernia with two shots on goal.

The loss today marks the end of Alvernia's 2022 season. Behrend will advance to tomorrow's ECAC Championship game and face the winner of this afternoon's other semifinal matchup between Rutgers Newark and NJCU.
