Golden Wolves Go 3-1 at Scotty Wood Duals

Allentown, Pa. (Nov. 19, 2022) - Alvernia University went 3-1 on Saturday at the Muhlenberg College Scotty Wood Duals. 
 
Alvernia started with a 24-15 loss to Johnson and Wales before going 3-0 the rest of the afternoon with wins over Temple, Rutgers-Camden, and Muhlenberg College. 
 
In the first round of the afternoon, Alvernia fell behind 15-0 early before Jason Rezac picked up four points with a 21-13 major decision at 157 lbs. Matthew Lackman then picked up another five points with a 17-2 technical fall Christian Murphy at 165 lbs. Gavin Hollingsworth then got Alvernia with three, 15-12, with a 3-1 decision at 174 lbs, but Alvernia dropped its next two bouts to put the match out of reach. Palmer Rodenhaber capped off the match with a 3-1 decision at heavy weight.
 
Alvernia handled Temple in its next match of the day with a 57-0 win over the Owls. Keito Shaw started the match with a tech fall at 125. The Owls then forfeited five of the next six bouts, with Robert Lawlor being the only one to compete for the Golden Wolves with a fall in 4:04 at 157. After four more forfeits by the Owls, James Circle picked up the final points not by forfeit for Alvernia with a 14-3 major decision at 184.
 
In match three of the day, Alvernia jumped out to an early 15-0 lead with tech falls by Shaw and Avery Leonard, and a pin by James King. Camden got three points back on a close 8-5 decision over Alvernia at 149. Alvernia then took three of the final five bouts with Lackman, Hollingsworth, and Czau s all recording wins for Alvernia as the Golden Wolves defeated Camden, 38-12.
 
Alvernia closed out the day with a closely contested match with the hosts Muhls. Alvernia started out falling behind 6-0 after the first two bouts. The Golden Wolves then got three back on a 6-1 decision by Avery Leonard at 141, and took the lead, 9-6, on a 1:43 pin by Chance Babb at 149. The Golden Wolves kept the momentum rolling with Robert Lawlor taking a tech fall in 2:55 and Lackman taking a 10-1 decision at 165. The Muhls got nine back to get within two, 18-15, with a decision at 174 and a pin at 184. The Golden Wolves closed out the match with a 19-14 decision by Pellot at 187 and a 10-1 major decision by Rodenhaber at 10-1 to secure the 25-15 win for the Golden Wolves on the match and 3-1 finish on the day.
 
Alvernia is back in action on Tuesday with a dual match against Ursinus.
