BOX SCORE Wyomissing, Pa. (Feb. 11, 2022) - Alvernia University (9-11-1, 7-8-1) dropped its contest against Nazareth College (20-1, 16-0) 6-1 Friday night in a UCHC women's ice hockey matchup at Body Zone.

The Nazareth offense started strong, with Ally Watrous recording the game's first goal with 14:32 left in the opening period. The Golden Flyers extended their lead two minutes later, with Ellie Fallieras slipping a shot past
Julia Beaven. Nazareth ended the first period with a 2-0 lead over Alvernia.

The second period started fast, with Nazareth firing away four quick shots. Despite this, the Golden Wolves' offense was able to take advantage of a 5-3 power-play opportunity.
Amber Steinhilpert netted the goal, coming off an assist from
Olivia Gilida with 14:47 left in the second period.

The Golden Flyers' offense quickly responded, taking advantage of their own power-play opportunity to record the goal, taking a 3-1 lead. Nazareth continued to apply pressure throughout the period, recording 16 shots over the final ten minutes of the period. The Golden Wolves ended the second period down, 3-1.

The third period saw the Golden Flyers start strong, tallying a goal just two minutes into the period. Nazareth scored two more times throughout the period, growing their lead and making the score 6-1 in favor of the Golden Flyers.

Alvernia's offense did make a late push, with Steinhilpert and
Abby Reisinger firing away a shot each, but Nazareth's offense held firm. Nazareth ended the match on top of Alvernia, 6-1.
