Annville, Pa. (May 4, 2022) - #4 Alvernia University (7-6) fell to top-seeded Lebanon Valley College (15-6), 5-3, in a closely contested MAC Commonwealth Men's Tennis semifinal match at Lebanon Valley on Wednesday afternoon. 

Alvernia led 2-1 after doubles play, but the Golden Wolves dropped four of the five needed singles matches as the Dutchmen took the match, 5-3.

After dropping #1 doubles, 8-2, Alvernia evened the match up at 1-1 with an 8-2 win at #3 doubles by the team of Drew Heinzelmann and Thomas Figurelli. After trailing 6-5 in their #2 doubles match, the duo of Lucas Berger and Jayden Lewis mounted a comeback to take an 8-6 win and give Alvernia the advantage going into singles play.

Two set wins at #1 singles and #4 singles for the Dutchmen gave Lebanon Valley the 3-2 lead. The Dutchmen built their lead up to 4-2 with a win at #3 singles before Alvernia got a point back with 7-6, 6-3 win at #6 singles by Figurelli. But, the Dutchmen secured the match with a win at #5 singles.

Alvernia's season comes to a close with the loss. Lebanon Valley will host the winner of #2 Stevenson vs. #3 Messiah set for tomorrow.
