River Hawks Fly by Golden Wolves, 15-3

Reading, Pa. (March 1, 2023) - Alvernia University (2-1) was held to just one goal a quarter as Susquehanna University (3-1) took a 15-3 win over the Golden Wolves on Wednesday night in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

The River Hawks got on the board with three quick goals in the opening three and a half minutes of action. Alvernia got one back on an unassisted goal by Natalie Frantz to keep the game within two with 9:16 to play in the opening quarter. Both teams went scoreless for the next eight and a half minutes, but the River Hawks scored once more before the quarter was up to take a 4-1 lead into the second frame. 

The Golden Wolves got within two, 4-2, with Meagan Moky netting the first goal of the second quarter, but the River Hawks scored the final two of the half to take a 5-2 lead going into the second half. 

Susquehanna kept it rolling to open the third quarter, scoring three goals in under four minutes to jump out to an 8-2 lead. 

Moky scored her second of the afternoon to get Alvernia back within five, 8-3, with 9:52 to play. But, Alvernia was held scoreless the rest of the game as the River Hawks tacked on seven more for the 15-3 final.

Moky led Alvernia with two goals, and Haleigh Lackner finished with two caused turnover, four ground balls, and three draw controls. 

Alvernia is back in action next week when the Golden Wolves take on Berry College on Monday down in Davenport, Florida.
