Golden Wolves Blow By North Central, 15-2

Fort Myers, FL (March 6, 2023) - Alvernia University (4-3) continued its offensive fireworks with a 15-2 victory over North Central University (0-3) in a non- conference baseball matchup at Terry Park in Fort Myers.

Alvernia got out to an early lead in the second inning, scoring four runs on two hits. Brandon Smith crossed the plate first via a pass ball and Thomas Faggioni followed that up with a two RBI double to the left center gap to make it 3-0 Golden Wolves. Zach Rogacki stepped up two batters later and drove Faggioni in to push the lead to 4-0.

The Golden Wolves put up four more runs in the third inning when Evan Thomas recorded a sac fly to score Jason Kelly and Mike Ramundo singled to center field to drive in Billy Dougar and Smith to extend the Alvernia lead to seven. Rogacki singled to right to tally an RBI in consecutive innings and put the Golden Wolves up 8-0 after 2.5 innings.

Alvernia was held scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings and North Central tallied a run in the bottom of the fifth when Nate Boyer scored on a wild pitch to pull one back and make it 8-1 Golden Wolves.

Alvernia responded in the top half of the sixth with a Rogacki solo shot to extend the lead back to eight, 9-1.

Michael Escalante scored North Central's second run of the game in the bottom half of the sixth inning thanks to an RBI single off the bat of Julian Encinas but Alvernia still held onto a commanding 9-2 lead.

The Golden Wolves put up six more insurance runs in the eighth and ninth innings, Rogacki recorded his fourth RBI of the day with an RBI single to right field to make it 10-1 in the eighth.

Alvernia then scored five five runs in the ninth thanks to a Faggioni RBI double, Rogacki recorded another RBI single and Grant Fitzgerald singled to right field to drive in Mike Pulcini to tally the 13th run for the Golden Wolves. Ryan Byard finished off the scoring run for Alvernia with a two RBI double down the right field line to make it 15-2.
