Reading, Pa. (April 2, 2023) - Alvernia University (3-4) picked up its third straight win to open the spring season on Sunday afternoon as the Golden Wolves defeated Arcadia University (1-1) 7-2 in non-conference men's tennis action at Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves jumped out to a 2-1 win in doubles play before grabbing five more points in singles action for the 7-2 win.

At #1 doubles, Lucas Berger and Jayden Lewis edged out an 8-7 (7-3) win to grab Alvernia's first point. Thomas Figurelli and Kevin Angeles then picked up Alvernia's second point of the match with an 8-4 win at #2 doubles. The Knights got one back at #3 doubles at Alvernia took a 2-1 lead going into singles play.

Berger and Lewis kept it rolling in singles play as both picked up wins at #1 and #2 singles, respectively. Berger picked up a 6-1, 3-6, 10-2 win, and Lewis went 6-2, 6-2.

Figurelli picked up Alvernia's fifth point with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win at #3 singles, and Kevin Angeles made it a 6-2 match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #4 singles.

Arcadia got one back at #5 singles, but a 6-0, 6-4 win from Derrick Boltz at #6 singles secured the 7-2 win for Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves are back in action tomorrow hosting Ursinus.
