Alvernia Falls to York, 13-2

Reading, Pa (April 10, 2024) - Alvernia University (4-7, 0-2) were tied with York College (5-7, 2-0) 2-2, after the first quarter but an 8 goal second and three more in the fourth saw the Spartans take the 13-2 victory over the Golden Wolves in a MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse matchup Wednesday at Alvernia.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves struck first after Nick Geppi fired a long 50 yard pass to Colin McFadyen who was being guarded by the York goalie. McFadyen dodged his way around the goalie and fired the ball into the back of the net to give Alvernia a 1-0 advantage after just one minute of play.
  • The Spartans leveled things up just over two minutes later when Will Harnick assisted Blake Morton to tie the game at one.
  • Alvernia jumped back ahead with just under ten minutes left after Christian Wright ripped a shot from Alvernia's defensive zone that found the back of the goal to give the Golden Wolves a 2-1 lead.
  • The Spartans tied the game up again at two with eight minutes left in the first quarter after a Harnick goal.
  • The Golden Wolves fired six shots in the final eight minutes of the first quarter but could not find the back of the net as the Spartans and the Golden Wolves were tied after the first 15 minutes of play.
  • The Spartans ripped off eight goals in the second quarter and held the Golden Wolves scoreless to take an eight goal, 10-2 lead at the half.
  • Alvernia and York held each other scoreless in the third quarter with York out shooting Alvernia 13-4 as the Spartans headed into the fourth quarter with a 10-2 advantage.
  • York scored all three goals in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 11 and secure the 13-2 victory over Alvernia.
