Alvernia Heading to Case Western Reserve for 15th NCAA Appearance

Reading, Pa. (May 13, 2024) - Alvernia University (28-16) will play in a four-team double-elimination pod at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio to open up the 2024 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.

Alvernia, who is making its 15th NCAA appearance, will face the host Spartans on Friday in the second game of the opening day of action. The first game of the regional will be between Ithaca University and Lynchburg University. The double-elimination pod will continue on Saturday and Sunday at Case Western Reserve's Nobby Ballpark.

Case Western Reserve is 31-9 on the season and earned an at-large bid out of the United Athletics Association and is ranked  ninth in the nation. Alvernia has faced the Spartans just once before - back in 1995 over spring break. Alvernia won the contest, 6-4.

The winner of the Case Western Reserve pod will face the winner of Trinity Texas vs. La Verna in a super regional the following weekend back at CWRU. Trinity and La Verna are playing a two-team five-game series at Trinity.
