How it Happened
- The Spartans started things off in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI single and then a two run homer to left field saw CWRU go up 3-0 after one.
- Another Spartan homer to left in the bottom of the second pushed the lead to 4-0 through two innings of play.
- Case Western pushed the lead to five in the third after an RBI double down the left field line to make it a 5-0 game.
- The Spartans recorded a run for the fourth straight inning with two more in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead to seven. An RBI double to right field and an RBI fielder's choice pushed two more runs across to make it 7-0.
- The Golden Wolves got on the board in the top of the fifth inning when Quincy Esannason beat out an infield single to third to score Garrett Hunter and then Mike Ramundo grounded out to second but it was enough to push home Logan Nelson to make it a 7-2 ballgame.
- Alvernia tallied another in the seventh to cut the deficit to four after a two strike RBI single from senior Jason Kelly to make it 7-3 Spartans.
- The Golden Wolves recorded one more run in the top half of the ninth when Kelly recorded his second RBI, this via a groundout but it was not enough as the Spartans secured the 7-4 victory over the Golden Wolves.

Coach Yogi Lutz' Thoughts on the Game
- "Right out of the gate, we didn't answer the bell and we got down early. But, Grant Fitzgerald came in and gave us a shot to get back in it…[and] he saved our bullpen. We had a couple chances to get even closer, but didn't have a couple of key hits."
- "A lot of our [first years] that played for us today - and all year long - got it going for us. They set the table. We just need to do a better job of pushing those runs across when we get in scoring position."
