Knights and Golden Wolves Play to 3-3 Tie, Golden Wolves Take the Shootout, 1-0

Reading, Pa (January 31, 2025) - Alvernia University (9-8-2, 5-8-2) tied with Arcadia University (14-3-2, 12-2-1) 3-3, Friday afternoon in a MAC women's ice hockey clash at BodyZone.

Alvernia's Kathryn Palmer netted the only shootout opportunity to give the Golden Wolves the 1-0 shootout advantage.

How it Happened
  • The Knights struck first in the opening five minutes of the game when Abbi Komrofske assisted Haylee Kos to give Arcadia an early 1-0 advantage.
  • The Golden Wolves leveled the score four minutes later when Emma Hart netted a goal off the assists of Gillian Evans and Khenzie Connickl to make it a 1-1 game with over ten minutes to go in the period.
  • Alvernia grabbed the lead just under two minutes later when Shae Hudec passed the puck up ice to Connick. Connick then beat the Arcadia goaltender and buried the puck into the back of the net to make it a 2-1 Alvernia lead.
  • The Knights sent eight shots at the Alvernia net in the final ten minutes of the first period but were unable to find the back of the net as the Golden Wolves took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
  • Arcadia tied the game up at 2-2 in the first five minutes of the second period, and held onto the puck for a large chunk of the first half of the period.
  • Alvernia got the puck back under its control and started peppering the Arcadia goalie. The Golden Wolves were then awarded a power play, and took advantage. Sydney Bradley fired a shot from just inside the blue line that snuck inside the right post to give Alvernia back the lead, 3-2, with four minutes to play in the second period.
  • The Golden Wolves had three more looks to close out the period, but could not convert as they took the 3-2 advantage into the third.
  • The Knights came into the third period firing, but Alvernia's defense, behind goalie Juju Rodgers, held tough for the opening three minutes. But, Arcadia was awarded a power-play and broke through 90 seconds into the player-up opportunity to tie the game at 3-3.
  • The Golden Wolves then went on a power play of their own and sent in six shots throughout the two minute opportunity. But, Arcadia held Alvernia off and kept the game at 3-3.
  • The trading of power plays continued, and, midway through the third, the Golden Wolves had to kill off another penalty. Rodgers made three saves during power play to keep the game tied at 3-3.
  • Alvernia had one more power play opportunity in the final minutes of regulation, but the Golden Wolves could not convert as the game moved into overtime.
  • The Knights sent in four shots on goals in the opening minutes of overtime, but Rodgers made the stops to keep the Knights off the board.
  • Alvernia then took control in the latter half of OT as Arcadia was hit with a slashing penalty. Alvernia had a few looks at the net, but could not convert to send the game into a shootout.
  • Rodgers stopped the Knights on their first two attempts, but Alvernia was stopped on its first two attempts as well. Rodgers then made a stop on the third attempt by the Knights to send Kathryn Palmer up for a third attempt for the Golden Wolves. Palmer took the puck in and snuck it under the Arcadia keeper to secure the 1-0 shootout for the Golden Wolves and two points toward MAC standings.
