Golden Wolves Fall to Mustangs, 3-0

Reading, Pa. (October 22, 2025) - Alvernia University (7-12, 0-5) dropped a MAC Commonwealth women's volleyball matchup to Stevenson University (13-9, 5-0), 3-0, Wednesday night on Alvernia's Jack McCloskey Court.

Prior to the match, Alvernia Women's Volleyball honored its 2025 senior class.

How it Happened
  • The Mustangs grabbed a 6-3 lead early in the first set but the Golden Wolves pulled to tie the set at seven and then went on a 4-1 scoring run to take a 11-8 lead. Allison Wolf recorded two kills during the stretch for the Golden Wolves.
  • Stevenson then responded with a 7-1 scoring run that swung the lead back in its favor, 15-12.
  • A Stevenson service error then sparked an Alvernia run, this one a 9-6 stretch that tied the set up at 21. Emma Remaley, Hailey McDevitt and Wolf all hammered home two kills for the Golden Wolves during the run.
  • The Mustangs then righted the ship and tallied three of the next five points to take a one point, 24-23 lead and forced Alvernia to take a timeout.
  • The Golden Wolves came out of the timeout and tied the set up at 24 thanks to a McDevitt kill but the Mustangs tallied the next two points to take a 26-24 victory in the first set.
  • Alvernia and Stevenson traded the first six points back and forth before the Mustangs ripped off an 18-0 run that made it 20-3. Alvernia ended the set on an 8-5 scoring run but it was not enough as the Mustangs took set two, 25-11, and grabbed a 2-0 match lead.
  • The Golden Wolves and Mustangs traded points back and forth again at the start of the third set before the Mustangs pushed out to a 12-8 lead and forced an Alvernia timeout. Stevenson then recorded a 13-8 scoring run to end the third set and secured the 3-0 victory with a 25-16 win in the third set.
