Golden Wolves Fall to Cougars, 3-0

Dallas, Pa. (October 30, 2025) - Alvernia University (7-16) dropped its final non-conference matchup to Misericordia University (19-8), 3-0, Thursday night in women's volleyball action at Misericordia's Anderson Sports Center. 

The Cougars took the first set 25-10 and then recorded 25-19 wins in sets two and three to complete the sweep. 

How it Happened 
  • The Cougars came out hot and grabbed a commanding 10-2 lead early on in the first set. Alvernia pulled some points back but Misericordia responded to push the lead to 15-6 and forced an Alvernia timeout. 
  • Misericordia came out of the timeout and ended the set on a 10-4 scoring run to secure the 25-10 victory in the first set. 
  • Alvernia and Misericordia traded the first few points of the second set back and forth before the Cougars pulled away and took another early lead, this one an 8-4 advantage. 
  • The Golden Wolves responded with a 9-5 scoring stretch that leveled the set at 13 apiece. Olivia Rohrbaugh led the way with two kills during the stretch and Hailey McDevitt and Allie Evangelista tallied one kill each. 
  • Misericordia then bounced back and tallied nine of the next 11 points of the set to regain the lead, 22-15 but Alvernia responded yet again with the next four points to pull within three, 22-19. 
  • The Cougars would go on to score the next three points and took a 2-0 match lead after a 25-19 set two win. 
  • The Golden Wolves were the ones to take the early lead in the third set and grabbed a 6-4 advantage in the first ten points. 
  • The Cougars bounced back and took the lead after a 10-3 scoring run to swing the lead in their favor, 14-9 and forced an Alvernia timeout. 
  • Misericordia would then score 11 of the final 21 points of the set to take the third set 25-19 and secure the match victory.
