Big Fourth Quarter Lifts Mighty Macs Over Golden Wolves, 77-55

Reading, Pa. (December 1, 2025) - Alvernia University (3-3) dropped a non-conference women's basketball matchup to Immaculata University (3-1), 77-55, Monday night on Alvernia's Jack McCloskey Court.

The Mighty Macs held a 41-29 lead over the Golden Wolves at the half but Alvernia came storming back in the third quarter and outscored Immaculata 22-13 in the quarter to pull within three, 54-51 heading into the fourth quarter. The Mighty Macs then outscored the Golden Wolves 23-4 in the final ten minutes to secure the 77-55 victory.

How it Happened
  • Kyla Reed grabbed the opening tip-off and dropped in a layup to give Alvernia the early 2-0 lead before both sides went scoreless for nearly three minutes. An Olivia Burke turnaround jump shot resumed the scoring for Alvernia and gave the Golden Wolves a 4-0 lead.
  • The Mighty Macs got on the board with a layup with six minutes to play, making it a 4-2 game through four minutes of action. Immaculata then tied the game at 6-6 at the midpoint of the quarter and took a 9-6 lead on a 3-pointer with four minutes to play.
  • The Mighty Macs then took a 15-10 lead off of back-to-back Alvernia turnovers with two minutes to play. Alvernia got back within two, 15-13, on a 3-pointer by Reed.
  • After a late layup gave Immaculata the 17-13 lead, Alvernia drew a shooting foul beyond the arc as time was expiring to send Burke to the line. She converted all three attempts to bring Alvernia within one, 17-16, going into the second quarter.
  • The Mighty Macs opened the second quarter scoring with a jumper on their first possession. Alvernia then tied the game at 19-19 on a 3-pointer by Reed. Immaculata then went on a 9-2 run over the next two minutes to push its lead up to nine, 30-21, with 5:24 to play in the half.
  • The Golden Wolves got back within seven, 32-25, on a Jordyn Ingelido jumper with 4:21 to play. But, the Mighty Macs closed out the half on a 9-4 run to take a 41-29 lead into the break.
  • Immaculata came out of the half and knocked down a 3-pointer to take a 44-29 lead, but Alvernia answered with a 14-2 run over the opening three and a half minutes to quickly cut Immaculata's lead down to three, 46-43. Taryn Woodson led Alvernia with six of Alvernia's 14 points during the run.
  • Immaculata called a timeout, and while Alvernia's scoring slowed, the Golden Wolves continued to hold Immaculata scoreless as Alvernia continued to hold a 46-43 lead through the midway media timeout of the quarter. Immaculata got back on the board coming out of the media timeout to push its lead back to five, 48-43, but Alvernia got back within one, 48-47, on a driving layup from Samantha Wade and putback layup from Jennah DeGout.
  • The Golden Wolves tied the game and took the 49-48 lead on a pair of made free throws by Reed with 2:46 to play in the third quarter. After Immaculata retook the lead 50-49, Alvernia took it right back on a layup by DeGout with 1:29 to play in the third.
