Reading, Pa. (Dec. 13, 2025) - Muhlenberg College (6-5) took a 19-7 lead through the first quarter and carried that the rest of the way in a 52-43 win over Alvernia University (3-5) on Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's basketball action at Alvernia's Jack McCloskey Court.

Alvernia took the early 2-0 lead with the first points of the game, but Muhlenberg responded with eight straight to take the 8-2 lead. The Mules then led the rest of the way.

How it Happened

Muhlenberg opened the second quarter with a layup off an Alvernia turnover and pushed its lead to 13, 23-10, through the first three minutes of the quarter. Alvernia got back within ten, 23-13, on a 3-pointer by Kyla Reed off a Tayrn Woodson steal. The scoring then slowed on both sides for the next three minutes.

Muhlenberg then made it a 14 point game, 31-17, with a four-point play with 1:47 to play in the half. The Golden Wolves scored the final points off the half on a putback layup by DeGout to make it a 31-19 game going into the break.

A 3-pointer by Ryleigh Poole opened the second half scoring and sparked a 12-5 run for Alvernia that brought the Golden Wolves within five, 36-31, through the first three minutes of the second half. Woodson scored the nine points following Poole's 3-pointer during the run.

The Mules' answered Alvernia's run with an 8-2 run of its own over the next three minutes as Muhlenberg pushed its lead back up to double-digits, 44-33, with 3:04 to play in the third.
