Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey | | By Marisa Lombardo (Assistant AD for Athletic Communications)

Arcadia Betters Alvernia, 4-1

Colmar, Pa. (Jan. 19, 2026) - Arcadia University (10-4-2, 8-3-1) took a 4-1 win over Alvernia University (8-6, 7-5) on Monday afternoon in MAC Women's Ice Hockey action at Arcadia's Hatfield Ice Arena.

The Knights took a 2-0 lead in the first half of the opening period, and made it a 3-0 game late in the second period. Alvernia got one back with a Kathryn Palmer goal in the early minutes of the third period, but the Knights held off Alvernia the rest of the way while scoring a late empty-net goal for the 4-1 win.

The Knights took a 1-0 lead after just over seven minutes of action as Arcadia's Carys Jelley scored off a rebounded shot by a teammate. Just over a minute later, Arcadia doubled-up on its lead as Phoebe Roberts slid the puck into the narrowest of openings between the near post and Stephanie Skorupa in goal for the Golden Wolves.

Arcadia held Alvernia to just three shots on goal for the first two minutes of the period. Alvernia then sent in two late attempts off the shots of Emma Hart and Addy Gularte. But, both attempts were saved as Arcadia took the 2-0 lead into the second period.

The Knights added onto their lead, 3-0, on a goal with five minutes to play in the second period as Arcadia scored off the faceoff. Alvernia had an opportunity to get one back on the Knights in the closing minutes of the second period as the Golden Wolves were awarded their first power-play of the game. But, the Golden Wolves could not get a puck through as Arcadia took the 3-0 lead into the final frame.

Kathryn Palmer got Alvernia on the board seven minutes into the third. Palmer picked up the puck in the Arcadia offensive zone and took it down the ice. Palmer avoided a few Knight defenders and then fired a shot into the back of the net to get Alvernia within two, 3-1, with just over 13 minutes to play.

A minute later, the Golden Wolves went on their second power-play of the afternoon. Gularte got a shot off early in the power-play opportunity, but that shot was saved. It would end up being Alvernia's only look during the power-play as Arcadia continued to hold the 3-1 lead.

After killing off a penalty to stay within two with three minutes to play, Alvernia went back on the power-play following a roughing call on the Knights. The Golden Wolves opted to pull Skorupa to go 6-on-4 against the Knights. Alvernia sent in six shots during the 6v4, but four attempts were saved, one was blocked, and one was off target as the power-play expired. Alvernia remained empty net for the final minute. The Golden Wolves got off one more shot that was blocked before Arcadia was able to score an empty-netter with just seconds to play to secure a 4-1 win.

The Knights finished the game out-shooting Alvernia 73-42 overall, and 45-24 on net. Kathryn Palmer finished with Alvernia's lone goal and also went 3-for-6 on the faceoff. Stephanie Skorupa had a season-high 41 saves, and finished just one save shy of matching her career-high of 42 set last season against Wilkes.

Alvernia is back in action at home on Friday and Saturday hosting Wilkes University. The Colonels are receiving votes in the latest USCHO poll, and are atop the MAC with 34 points off of a 11-1 MAC record.
