Golden Wolves Go 2-0 at Millersville Duals

Millersville, Pa. (January 24, 2026) - Alvernia University recorded back to back victories Saturday at the Millersville duals in men's wrestling action at Millersville.

The Golden Wolves recorded a 29-19 victory over Felician in the first match and then completed a 25-17 come from behind victory over Millersville in the final dual of the day.

How it Happened

The Golden Wolves took a 3-0 lead from the jump with Ethan Staples taking a 6-4 decision at 125 pounds.
The Falcons then responded with a tech fall to take a 5-3 lead following the 133 pound bout. Alvernia picked up six points with a forfeit win for Aiden Swann at 141 pounds to take a 9-5 lead, but Felician answered with a major decision win at 149 pounds to even the match at 9-9.
Alvernia retook the lead, 15-9, with a forfeit win at 157 pounds. But, Felician got six back with a pin at 165 pounds to again even the match, 15-15.
The Falcons then took a 19-15 lead with a major decision at 174 pounds, but Alvernia again evened it up at 19-19 with a 18-10 major decision win for Hayden McLellan at 184 pounds.
Alvernia then took the lead, 23-19, with Jason Chiodi earning a 9-0 major decision at 197 pounds. The Golden Wolves then secured the 29-19 win with Owen Reber winning via forfeit at 285 pounds.

How it Happened

Millersville took the early 8-0 after the first two bouts of the dual thanks to a 7-1 decision from Gavin Boland over Rocco Monteferrante at 125 pounds. Nicholas Cottone then recorded a 18-2 tech fall over Steven Harris at 133 pounds to grab the early lead.
Aiden Swann then got the Golden Wolves on the board with a fall over Aidan Micheli in 2:58 at 141 pounds to cut the Millersville lead to two, 8-6.
Millersville then rattled off three straight victories to extend its lead to 17-6 thanks to victories at 149, 157 and 165 pounds. Taylor Robinson recorded a 10-3 decision over Sebastiano Spina at 149 pounds and then Daniel Sinclair tallied a 4-1 sudden victory over Ian Vitalo at 157 pounds. Richie DeFulvio rounded out the stretch for Millersville with a 7-6 decision over Luke Thomas at 165 pounds.
The Golden Wolves then received a forfeit at 174 pounds before rattling off three straight victories to come from behind and secure the 25-17 victory in the dual. Hayden McLellan started things off for Alvernia with a 4-1 decision over Avery Aurand at 184 pounds to pull Alvernia within two, 17-15.
Jason Chiodi followed McLellan with a 12-3 major decision over Jaxon Townsend to swing the Golden Wolves in the lead, 19-17.
Owen Reber then sealed the comeback victory over Millersville with a victory by injury default in the 285 pound match to secure the 25-17 win.

The Golden Wolves are back in action next week when they host Southern Virginia, Albright, Marymount and Garrett College in a Quad Dual on Alvernia's Jack McCloskey Court.
